Training

Training built around your team

At DealershipRecruiting.com we do not have a one-size-fits-all training program. Through our network of automotive training options, we build a plan that fits your store, your people and your goals.

Why training pays

Recruiting fills the seat. Training is what keeps the person in it and producing. Every figure below links to its source.

Stay longer
94%

of employees say they would stay longer at a company that invests in helping them learn17

Costly gaps
67%

annual turnover on dealership sales teams, at about $10,000 to hire each replacement18

2x profitability

the efficiency and profitability Cox Automotive found at dealers who deliver knowledgeable, supportive staff19

Sales

Cox Automotive found that knowledgeable, supportive staff is one of four pillars of car shopping satisfaction, and that dealers who deliver on those pillars see two times the efficiency and two times the profitability.19 The skills are specific and teachable. When a dealer explained the trade-in value, J.D. Power measured buyer satisfaction at 800 on a 1,000-point scale. When nobody explained it, satisfaction fell to 672. And of the 22% of buyers who wanted a follow-up walk-through of their vehicle's features, 53% never got one.20

BDC and internet

Foureyes found that 42.7% of qualified dealership leads were mishandled in 2025, and 15.2% were never logged in the CRM at all.4 Phone leads were set as appointments 75% of the time, against 40% for internet leads.5 Those gaps are process and phone skills, and they close with training and accountability.

F&I

Choosing F&I products ranks among the most stressful parts of buying a car, and Cox recommends clear, transparent F&I presentations to reduce it.19 A trained F&I manager makes the menu easier to understand, which is better for the customer and for product penetration.

Service advisors

J.D. Power found that 12% of repairs are not done right on the first visit, and only half of those customers come back to the dealership.21 When dealer service customers said a visit beat their expectations, speed and communication were what they talked about.14 Keeping one service customer is worth about $12,398 in service spend over the ownership period, and service customers are about twice as likely to buy their next vehicle from the same dealer.15

Retention

NADA's workforce study put 2020 turnover at 67% for sales consultants and 45% for service advisors, and named poorly defined career paths among the causes.22 Training gives new people a path. In Cox's interviews with dealers, the most common story was a week of shadowing and then being "thrown out to the sharks."18

The return on training

You do not need a big percentage lift for training to pay for itself. A few examples using published figures:

One more car a month

About $3,244 in front gross plus F&I, from one salesperson selling one more unit.3

One salesperson who stays

About $10,000 in hiring cost you do not spend again, before counting the lost production while the desk sits open.18

One service customer kept

About $12,398 in service spend over ownership, plus a customer twice as likely to buy their next vehicle from you.15
